Katsina Police Arrest Suspects in Separate Operations, Recover Stolen Goods

Katsina, August 27, 2024  — In a series of successful operations, the Katsina State Police Command has arrested several individuals suspected of engaging in criminal activities. Speaking at a press briefing at the Command Headquarters, Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sadiq Abubakar, outlined the Command's latest achievements in combating crime.

On August 23, 2024, operatives from the Sabangari Katsina Divisional Headquarters apprehended a notorious drug dealer, Salisu Jibril, 35, from Oni 'Yasu village in Rimi Local Government Area. Acting on credible intelligence, the police found 1,330 Exalt tablets and 15 sachets of Lara Tramadol in his possession. Jibril, who intended to distribute these illicit substances within the community, is currently under investigation. He will be charged in court once the inquiry is completed.

In another operation on August 15, 2024, the Command arrested a notorious motorcycle thief, Abdullah Haruna, during a routine patrol along the Jibiya to Katsina Road. Haruna, a resident of Karam-bana Na'abba Quarter in Dutsinma Local Government Area, was caught with a suspected stolen motorcycle. Preliminary investigations revealed that Haruna drugged his victims, rendering them unconscious before stealing their motorcycles to sell. He also confessed to conspiring with an accomplice, Alhaji Saidu, who remains at large. The police are actively pursuing leads to capture the fugitive.

Today, August 27, 2024, at approximately 1:00 PM, police operatives arrested 18-year-old Aliyu Aliyu from Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Aliyu was apprehended for his involvement in the vandalism and theft of electric cables. A significant quantity of electric wire, suspected to have been stolen from a building in Natsinta Village, Katsina State, was recovered during the arrest. Aliyu confessed to collaborating with another suspect, Shamsu Musa, who is still at large. The police are continuing their investigation to bring all parties involved to justice.

ASP Sadiq Abubakar emphasized the Command's unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order in Katsina State. He assured the public that efforts to apprehend all suspects and prevent further criminal activities are ongoing.
